Follow these steps to create a simple three-stop trip in Stopover. We'll plan: home → Lisbon → Porto → home.
💡 Tip: To explore a finished itinerary, open the Trip menu (top right) and choose Load sample trip. A full Southeast Asia itinerary appears.
1. Name your trip and set the dates
At the top of the page, click the trip title (it starts as "Untitled trip") and type a name. Click the dates next to it to set when you're traveling. The map and timeline use these to lay everything out.
2. Add your first flight
At the bottom of the left sidebar (under "Itinerary") you'll see a row of small buttons: + flight, + ground, + stay, + layover. Click + flight, pick your origin (start typing your home airport — try "JFK" or "London") and your destination (e.g., "LIS" for Lisbon), set the date, and confirm.
You now have a flight leg on the map.
3. Add a stay
Click + stay in the same row, pick Lisbon, and set how many nights. Stopover figures out the check-out date for you.
4. Add the rest of the trip
Repeat the process: a + flight or + ground leg from Lisbon to Porto, another + stay in Porto, and a final + flight home. Your trip now has six legs and a real shape on the map.
5. Fill in flight and hotel details
For each flight, click it and either:
- Paste a Google Flights link to pull in real options, or
- Enter it manually if you've already booked.
Hotels work the same way — paste a Google Hotels link or type the property name and price.
That's the loop
Add a leg → fill in details → repeat. After the route is built, add notes, activities, and budget details from the sidebar.
